Good afternoon before the early evening to one and all. This is Andy Positive and Wylita. And we are bringing to you live from River West Radio on the perfectly dusty street of Center, Baldur's musical diaries with Andy and Wileita. Now with a hot new phone line, you gotta call or text the show. It's 414-812-1730. That's 414-812-1730-1730. Now that was a great year for the Japanese trapdoor snail. You can give a home to these little darlings in your small DIY pond. Right in that small DIY pond. The main thing is you can't put too many, you can't put too many into the pond too fast because it'll eat up all the food, like the algae and what have you. But uh you want about five or seven snails for a hundred gallons of water or therein. And uh you gotta make sure the pond is at least 24 inches deep so they can get below that there freeze line in and survive the winter. Come on, mother lovers! Come on, mother lovers, don't be out, don't botch this. You gotta plant a little bit and get your get just plant a little bit and you'll be as good as gold with your special Japanese trapdoor snails. Good as gold as well as mother, who starts the show with one of her diaries, and then we we end with her breathing closely and then entering my room to impart wisdom that offers a good deep sleep because that's the way we like to start the show, that's the way we like to end it, because that's the way we do it. But first, the words of mother, a diarrheistry. You wouldn't know this about me if you just booked. But I love football, especially when my team wins. But their offense is so putrid. It's hard to watch, actually. Carl Eller and Alan Page are a real treat, but the offense simply just can't put up points. Oh well, what are you gonna do? Find the joy where joy is found, not where it isn't. I say this to Larry when he starts complaining about his school lunch, and he honestly doesn't seem to get it. He looks right through me. I ask him, Larry, do you understand what I'm saying? And he just says, I have to go tinkle. Strange kid. Yeah, yeah, totally, mother. I hear ya, you know what? You yeah, I say that, I say that every day in my stinking life, ever since I was born, and uh, yeah, I'll say he was a strange kid, and uh But you know what? I actually prefer dumb and uh idio idiotic and gullible. Yeah, what else? What else we got there? We got malevolent uh arrogant and mendacious. I'd say he's mendacious, he's condescending and patronizing and acquisitive, callous, miserly, he's hypocritical, petulant, churlish, he's obdurate, obstinate, dogmatic, intractable, I'd say he's inflexible, bigoted, uh I think he's opinionated and muleish he's definitely muleish, mother. He's defiant, uncompromising, he's b he's bullheaded, he's pig headed, he's uh he's he's headstrong, he's pertinacious, he's autocratic, he's definitely authoritarian, he's despotic, he's tyrannical, man, on me dolphin street, on the street of being dolphin on green dolphin street dolphins.
SPEAKER_10
And my big dolphin street surprise the setting setting for the night being bugged and truly moments of being when I recall my battle, I can get the bowl with me. On Green Dolphin Street, on the street, green dolphin, on green dolphin street. And that's why when I recall the love I found on, I can kiss the ground on me no man's beat, don't get off the speaker on treat me, don't be on me, don't speak, on feet me don't be on me, don't speak.
SPEAKER_03
Imperious domineering, overbearing, heavy-handed, fanatical, sanctimonious, repressive, peremptory, absolutist, arbitrary, draconian, subjugating, punitive, recalcitrant, contumacious, obstreperous, impervious, impenetrable, incurious, presumptuous, pedantic, truculent, grim, martinettish, uncompromising, censorious, blinkered, doctrinal, rigid, unbending, parochial, myopic, high bound, chauvinistic, prejudiced, xenophobic, malignant, intolerant, racist, suprematist, disdainful, oppressive, duplicitist, the move makes you feel like movement, it makes you feel like movement, alright.
SPEAKER_09
Sorry, you know, DC has to happen. I've got the music to you with what we're playing it.
SPEAKER_03
All vinyl all the time here. And uh Mother's Musical Diaries with the Andy and Violeta. And the first song we heard that was from the Metronomes. Yeah, there was the Metronomes that I did and you got uh you got Paul Benson as a first ten tenor, and Julius Robinson is a second tenor, and Conrad Moore is a baritone, and Charles Woody Woodford is on bass. But uh, you'd be wrong if I was talking about instruments, because I'm talking about their vocal cords. Yeah, it was a bunch of singers on that one, that first song of the Metronomes. And then, of course, we had Larry Graham. Yes, Larry Graham, with an absolute jam title. You guessed it! It's alright for the 1975 album. Uh, ain't no doubt about it, which is shot all the way to number four on the Billboard Soul album list. And that bet that better be right, research and development. Seriously, that better be right. I've got uh uh I got number four here. And uh but always right, right on time is Yes. Text time! Ha ha ha ha ha! Okay, let's see here. Uh so much, uh so much text. And uh that's what is from uh hashtag Steffi Steel Stilettos. Yeah, text name! And uh dear, this is a step uh hashtag Steffi Steel Stiletto says, Dear AW, my friend Aaron from Long Beach recently uh led a little orange kitten into his home and needs some help figuring out a good name for him. I will attach Aaron's list of potential names and a picture of the kitty, and I thought maybe you could help Aaron narrow it down or even provide some of your own suggestions, or maybe even the suggestions from from fellow mother lovers. Thanks. Yeah, well, well, thank you for the proper salutation, that being AW and uh to thanks to your note. Uh I sent along a few names and I really like Cooter. And I also like Lou Diamond Fillin Station. Yeah, those are two really good names, and if you if you want or if you want your cat to have a good life, you might want to choose one of the above. I'm just saying, ha ha ha ha ha. Okay, uh, thanks for the note, hashtag Stephanie Steals Stilettos. Brother lovers, if you have names you'd like to suggest, please send them to 414-812-1730. And another. Text time. Okay, this is from hashtag Chairman Chow Main. Ha ha ha ha ha. Okay, Chairman. Uh hashtag Chairman Chow Main says, uh, love the show. Uh the music is a little weird, but that's okay. Okay, well, don't ask you, yeah, hashtag Chairman Chow Main. How about you get a more original handle first and then we can talk? Uh anywho, hashtag Chairman Chow Main goes on to say. Uh okay, okay, there. Uh, Larry sounded like if RFK and Lenny Sakowski had a baby. What's going on with him? Okay, hashtag Chairman Chow Main. Uh you know, he goes on to goes on to say a lot of other stuff about cryptids and horsemen, but I'm gonna spare you that, mother lovers. And uh, so we're not gonna read the rest of ch hashtag Chairman Chow Main's text. But uh yeah, I don't know. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about what Lyri is or isn't, to be honest. He can go pound sand, uh, and uh I'll tell you what, one time, one time I pounded sand with my and uh look looks like we have a call there, Wiley. Yeah, no, I'm gonna I'm gonna take that. I'm just gonna Yeah, can we put that into yeah, can we put that into line number three? Okay, what do you got there, mother lover? You're alive and alive and on time on here. Uh really good job. To research pizza gate. Well, I just really like pizza. I really like pizza, my brother, and uh is it okay if I like pizza? Most Americans I don't like pizza. Sometimes I just don't get how we share the same life bugs and DNA and what have you. Bridges to recovery gave me a lot of skills and uh tools to deal with it with Larry's nonsense. Like this is one skill that I picked up, and this was in a closed session with the staff. And uh it's where you it's where you name it, swear walls where at least I name I name all my favorite Minnesota Vikings receivers in order. And I really do it from uh from the most favorite, and then on down it starts with Ahmad Rashad. You remember him? Yeah! You got Randy Moss and Sammy White and Chris Carter, Anthony Carter, Stefan Diggs, of course, Minneapolis Miracle. Then you got JJ, Justin Jefferson, Jake Reed, Percy Harvin, real exciting fellow, that one. Adam Thielen, kind of a whiner, but whatever. KJ Osborne, and boy, oh boy, I really I just love Jarius Wright. Jarius Wright at the bottom of the list, but uh, there are a lot of receivers, so that's quite a list. That felt pretty good. Goodbye, Larry. Bye bye, Larry. Haha, why don't you go eat your pizza? Larry's beef, I mean, come on, who cares? Come on, come on, are you kidding me? If that song didn't hit you right in the middle section, then I don't I I got nothing for you, I don't know what to say. Before I say anything more, I want to shout out a real special happy birthday wishes to Stephanie over there at Grand Rapids. Yeah, hosting a listening party, and I recommend that more than all your mother lovers have a listening party. Because it's good to be social when you do things and uh don't be you know be by yourself less often and just listen to the show and have a good time. Happy birthday! Oh, I hope you put your finger in a cake or whatever and put it in your mouth. That's what I do on my birthday. Good times! And so that was that was a great Turkish psychedelic we just heard from deep epicrabram or something like that. I don't really know my Turkish is all screary since the accident. But no need to worry because you can always see the spelling of each musician and each song title on our podcast strewn all over the freaking webosphere when you search Mother's Musical Diaries with Eddie and Wiley, search uh SpongeBoby, Apple Fritter, uh, I'm done, whatever, graphics magic, dirty dozens radio, and all them podcast channels. Or you gotta go to our website at podcast.andypositive.com. And uh either way, uh the whole idea is you can listen to all past shows since like a few years ago and check out all the song titles, like I said. Live radio upload uploaded to the podverse every week, mother lovers. All vinyl all the time, unless we say otherwise, and we rarely do. Live radio on 104.1 FMWXRW, River West Radio, where the coffee shop next door closes at 3, where you can walk down the street and see the legendary Dutch ever geared vocalist musician and artist Yap Blanc. And I saw him at the Jazz Gallery a few weeks ago, and I ca I just couldn't believe it. Someone said, Yup Blanc is coming to the Jazz Gallery. And I've about filled my socks, no kids about their lovers. Milwaukee is a pretty amazing place, and pretty pretty, pretty darn amazing. And not only is it home to the greatest radio show on the entire One Planet, but it also hosts some of the greatest artists also from our One Planet, like Okay, also per capita, we must have the most the most and best uh record stores in the nation. I said per capita. And I just got this next beauty four months ago, give or take three, from Irving Place Records. I got it for a handshake and a bag of fries, so to speak, it is Ego Slavia from 1982.
SPEAKER_08
Get it out of my sweet up, without my sweet set, I could stop Get it out my sweet up, wake up my sick, I could stop, get up, spice like girl, it's the sweet fucking up, I gotta find a bright kick, something about the walk, shoot that, too, wake up, shoot that for up, see up, but right here, this is the super right here, something about the wall, shoot out, shoot out, too, wake up, shoot back, give up for us, see up Silver, get up, straight off the up, sweet, up the top, couple of three, I'll be out of my top, get up, get out of my street, I'll be out of my trees, too, I drop it up, but it's a stupid burden up, fastening about the wall of that, too bad, but to buy, uh, it's a stupid burden, it's fast like those waterfight here, something about a wall back, too bad, too bad, you know that follow up, that you got to buy, stay up, get off the straight off, and stop the way I was like, something about the Yes, listen, that was Ego Slavia, and heads off to Wailita, because that one was at 45 RPMs, and she got the change right, and I almost forgot.
SPEAKER_03
Hey, Ego Slavia, a post punk new wave band from Washington, DC. The band was apparently called R. E. M. But uh we probably heard of them. But then uh R E the R-E-M, I think they're from like uh, I don't know, Louisiana. They really took off, I I guess. So they so so you you Ego Slavia, they had to change their name to Egoslavia, or rather R E M had to change their name. You get the idea. Great stuff, and I really love that new wave stuff. More new wave coming at you next week, mother lovers, and maybe a little new wave and a no wave crossover or some such. I'm not really sure. Oh, gee, oh boy, look at that. Uh we got another call there, yeah. Oh, okay. I'm just gonna be a pot pot number three there on that one, Violita. Yeah, I'm gonna just punch that button. Okay, pot number three. Okay, mother lover, what do you got? What do you got? It's better be good because you're coming after a great song. It was just a big, big shoes to feel. Okay, what do you got? McKinney, we know who the hacking is. They castafella. The motel owner, his name is Rafferty. They cast a fella who clearly has a fake Irish voice. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know about Kenny either. There are far more upsetting things in that movie. And whatever you're drumming up, like, how about them killing that kid and making crickets and snakes come out of his orifices? Or how about that fella, Dr. Dan Chalice, hooking up with Ellie Gimbridge, the daughter of the guy who got his head pulled apart by a single gloved hand. She's like 30 years younger than Chalice, and she's she's oh god, why she's just so into him. Had sex with him in a dirty motel bed. Are you kidding? Are you even kidding me? Maybe you can sort out your own defamation league there. And something about unlikely sexual relationships in movies where underachieving and mediocre men get to have sex with hot young women who are clearly out of their league. But that's not what I'm doing. I'm picking you. Join the cause. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, when pigs fly. Or even later, like when I come to your meat raffle. That was bad bound saga by a machine gun hog and company. Real popular band and great stuff. That was really, really great stuff. Oh, yes, it was great music. That was Pierre. WXRW's artist in residence and technical collision clinician, and he was a yeah, he was yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He had he had uh yeah, Pierre Pierre. Yeah, Pierre has a wonderful show too. It's called La Java! And it's live on Fridays at 8 p.m. Is it right here? You're gonna play house music and trip. Wonderful feelings and falling in love. That's very French beer! Brother lovers, you gotta go ahead and tune into La Java this Friday at 8 p.m. And I I have to go to soccer practice, but I should be home around 7.50, so I might I just might make it, but without doubt, I always make if tickets and why not I each so I'll read a short passage from my unpublished memoir titled The Diary of Foundos and Me, which will be illustrated by Waylita. And each show will get a little deeper into the story last week. We heard the chapter headings for chapter seven, which included This is what the chapter headings were Foundos and I planned for Bilbo's escape. I contemplate evil, Rick and Mick devolve again. Foundos buries the underwear, and Eva's words titillate jape and puzzle. Oh, what the heck? What the heck could possibly even be next? The diary of Foundos and me. August 18th. I brushed Fondos' teeth to get some of the grass off. He grinned and grimaced and seemed to like it. Later he begged to go and see Bilbo, and I couldn't say no. Together we walked and talked about how we might free Bilbo. We agreed that he deserved to get out of that store. But I kept thinking about the crayfish. In my pocket, I found an old piece of gum still in its wrapper. Warm and smelling good. Foundos called Dibs. Dibs always wins. Just as we were turning on Kahill, we're we nearly ran into Rick. Hey bleepers, get bleeped! His eyebrows mashed into his eyes. At the mall, Bilbo was in a good mood and doing real damage to his ice cream sandwich. Eva walked past and didn't see me. The light in the fish tanks looked especially chemically neon blues, reds, yellows. I put my hand on the glass and told Bilbo that someday he'll be free to scamper in the forest and climb trees. And none of this will matter. Look at that. Yes, it's Godzilla Lemon Head, Golden Boy 1, and Golden Boy 2. Oh, you're back. Yeah, you're back. You loved you loved dancing last week. Oh, come here. Give me a little lick on the cheek. You want to dance again? You wanna dance again? Okay, you do? Yes, I can find something for you to dance to. Yeah, Wyalita, do we have that one album? We yeah, okay, yeah, oh, just hey donkey, you gotta get down though. This is my new shirt. Yeah, yeah, Waylita, that one. I think track three has that love in it. Yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay. You guys really appreciate this. You gotta get on your dancing shoes. And I'm not kidding. I I yeah, I know I know I know you don't wear dancing shoes. Hey, hey Kitty's, do you think hashtag Steffi Steel Stiletto should name her friend's cat Lou Diamond Fillin' Station? Yeah, you do. You do? Okay, get your dancing shoes on. Yesterday's new quintet from 2001. And I gotta say, I just love that album. You will too. Yeah, listen, I'm not kidding you, you gotta you gotta get to your local record cobbler. You gotta you gotta have them order you a copy now yesterday's new quintet, and the album was Angles Without Edges. And the song Papa. Ha ha ha ha! I wish I had a Papa worth celebrating with a song. Don't make yourself sad, Andy. Okay, let's take a call there. Yeah. Yeah, we're gonna stick with pot number three, because that one's been real lucky so far today. So, pot number three, mother lovers, what do you got? We're getting the last third of the show here. What do you what do you got there, big fella? Yakab Jarow Slavakowski! The village voice jazz critic from October 1971 to September 1971. Yes. Okay, I didn't even know you could do that. Okay, well, yeah, what what the heck you got there?
SPEAKER_12
I think hope I'm not a lot of pain. Well, it's not quite a big band. It's still a big band that we can spend out. You gotta enjoy and I'll catch you on the other side of the kid's land.
SPEAKER_03
Yes, come on, Charles Ming is one of America's greatest songwriters, prolific and creative, and with music that's based in uh the traditional forms and avant-gared. And uh I just love his stuff. You can hear gospel in here and blues, and of course jazz and just American roots, it's so good. Just his his song catalog is really something, yeah, you really ought to check that out. You really ought to check that out, mother lovers. And I was introduced to Charles Mingus by my calligraphy professor, and I was about 20 years old or so, and one day he just said, Hey, listen there, big fella, you look jazz curious, you look like a jazz head. And I said, I don't know, I don't know much about jazz. I got some winton Marcellus. And he said, Yeah, that's pretty good, but listen, have you ever heard Chuck Mingus? And I was like, I I have no idea what you're talking about. Yeah, he said, Yeah, sure. I'm gonna give you a couple albums here. I'm gonna give you Charlie Mingus and Rush and Roll and Kirk. Yeah, yeah, it changed my life. And it really did, and uh that's what a co that's what a great calligraphy professor can do for you. Uh but now Yes! Every week we're gonna play a song from the outstanding album by the Kinks, entitled The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, specifically the Earwax Triple Album, 2004 release, and I'm not gonna play any of the repeats or duplicates or double dues on the album, just uh just a little heads up there, mother lovers. And last week we played track two from side C of Album Two. Okay, now you just gotta put your put your thumb on your chin and think. You gotta think to yourself, What's next? Just kink about it. Okay, if last week it was track two from side C of Album Two. Well, what's next? Yeah! Track three from side C of Album Two! Yes! And remember, we we we we're done with the original 15-track mono album, and we're all we're on all the great extra songs, and the singles that they produced during that same era that's part of this triple album of 2004, and that's why you gotta get that album and not the original, because this is all that great stuff like this next tune, Polly.
SPEAKER_01
Now let's let's face the five people to the mama baby letters to the papa, it's to the day I feel the babies come and hold the game, just that's a big day, mama knows the mama loves the day.
SPEAKER_03
I stayed at home. But boy, oh boy, not enough people talk about how great this album is. I know the original was outstanding, but this 2004 release with all the singles and stuff, you know, if I were a music critic, I'd be all over this. I'd write a thesis about it or something. I don't really know, but uh the Kinks with Polly, and it looks like it looks like we got a phone call there. What do we got? Okay, brother lover, we just got time for one last call. We just got time for one last call here, so uh I don't know, make it good or something? Okay, what do you got? Afternoon, Jeff.
SPEAKER_11
I was listening last week. I wanted to tell you something, you might not know.
SPEAKER_03
Like if the universe were an ample pie. Okay, whatever you just tell me what you're going for. Yeah, baby, wherever you grew up it is. Indefatigable. Why you must be drinking that maquanical water. Wait out to mequanical to get a corn of wood. Ha ha ha! Hang up, hang up, thanks for calling, Jeff. Listen, I don't mean to uh demean your your your your pr pronunciations, but uh I'm pretty sure it's i in de f in indefatigable, like I said, and uh okay, mother lovers, listen. Today's the big day, right? And I don't and I I know, I told you in my newsletter, I said it was the National Sandwich Day. Ha ha yeah. Now that's true, but it's also you know what else it is? That's right, it's a it's voting day, it's election time for each and every one of you, and uh you ought to do your civic duty and at least get off your tail and go vote. And uh I'm not saying that if you don't vote, I'm not gonna talk to you, because I wouldn't know, just don't tell me. Uh but uh and I was thinking that maybe you could talk to your elected officials and make uh make this day uh kind of a holiday for some people. A holiday for those who vote. If you show if you get some kind of receipt that says you vote, you get the day off, you can go get some ice cream, get some turkey legs, whatever you want to do. Uh I don't eat meat anymore, but uh but uh that's what I think. And I think we ought to re we ought to really celebrate and reward one another for doing doing the good work of being a citizen. You know, there are lots of things that being a citizen, a good citizen, you say hello to people on the street, you make eye contact, you give everyone the benefit of the doubt. You always you do your best, you leave a tip, you pay the bill, you pay the full amount of the bill, and you know what else you gotta do? You gotta vote. Uh what the heck? I mean, what the heck? And uh, you know who always voted? I'll tell you what, she always voted every election, and that was Mother.
SPEAKER_04
Yes, mother, Andy. Don't be fooled by the name Sayers, Andy. Life is a mosquito. And a stone. A rope and a phone.
SPEAKER_03
Yo hey, mother, listen, uh, you know, you know I'm never gonna forget them words coming out of your hot mouth into my ear. And I'm just glad you made the time to come up and step the stairs and tell me. And keep me right, get me on the right path, and also get me on the right path is Jerry Han, and not the Jerry Han for quality foods. Hey, Gaylord, Minnesota. Yes, I love hearing Jerry. Yeah, there he is, and mother lovers. Listen, I want to thank you again because we're back on the rotation. Back on the rotation with clown bakery, yeah. Way to go. You brought in some greasy, greasy donuts, and I loved it. I love that little bit of bit of sugar you put on there. And uh, just a couple more seconds here. Mother lovers, you gotta know. Get out and vote. The polls aren't closed yet. I don't know. The East Coast, West Coast, or Midwest. Get out and vote.
